Inauguration

The two day residential orientation camp was inaugurated at 9.30 am by honorable Member of Legislative Assembly of Tirur constituency Sri. P.P.Abdullakkutty. Smt. Safiya.P, the Principal GVHSS Girls B.P. Angadi, Tirur welcomed the chief guests. Sri. Santo Jose, the District Co-ordinator of N.S.S, Malappuram gave a key note address in the inaugural session. The inaugural session was presided over by the president Thalakkad Grama Panchayath and felicitations were offered by Sri. Bapputty, Sri. Vasu Master, Sri. Kunibava, Adv. Jenin. Sri. Malik Gafoor K.P, Programme Officer of GVHSS Girls B.P. Angadi extended the vote of thanks.

Day –1 03-10-09

The registration process started at 9 a.m. We conducted an ice braking session after the inaugural ceremony. The next session was Life Skills. Sri. Kishore M.V handled the session. The after noon session was started at 2 pm by Sri. Manikandan, Programme Officer KMGVHSS Thavanoor. The topic was Adolescent Issues. The next session was Growth and DEVELOPMENT of adolescents. We conducted a separate session for boys and girls. Sri. Ajmal, Vocational Teacher MLT, GGVHSS and Smt. Udaya, HSST Biology GHSS Purathur handled the classes respectively.

And there was a session on adolescent issues and solutions by Sri. Dineshan, Managing Director, Elite Coaching centre Calicut. After the supper the cultural activities were staged.

The Second day. 04-10-2009

The next day morning was different one – a counselling class was followed by meditation. This programme made the volunteers more confident to face the crucial situations in their life. The volunteers took a pledge against suicide. The whole session was managed by Santo Jose. After breakfast there were classes by Sri. Nasar Palara BYKVHSS Valavannur on Philosophy of NSS and Sri. Mohammad Kattuppara, NRHM co-ordinator Perinthalmana, both classes were interactive and useful to NSS volunteers. The class on HIV/AIDS cleared the doubts among the volunteers regarding the symptoms and transmission of AIDS.

Then there was a separate sessions for boys and girls on reproductive system. These sessions were handled by Sri. Anoop & Smt Sharmila respectively. The afternoon session was about the implementation of AEP through NSS. The volunteers conducted a group discussion and took a decision to implement the programme on their school effectively. Santo Jose NSS District Co-ordinator distributed certificates for the NSS volunteers who were participated the camp. State programme Co-ordinator Sri. Fasil addressed volunteers through phone. At 4.30 p.m the volunteers went back their home with nostalgia.
